Fact-Checking an Article With Perplexity Before You Publish

Perplexity won't save you from a wrong argument, but it will catch a wrong number. Use it as a citation cop, not a co-author.

Before publishing anything with a claim someone might check, I run each load-bearing fact through Perplexity as its own question. 'What's the current EU AI Act deadline' gets a sourced answer; my memory of it gets confirmed or corrected without me trusting a blog post.

The discipline is one question per fact, not 'is this article correct.' Broad checks return broad mush. Narrow ones return the primary source you can link, which is the thing that makes the piece defensible.

Read the citations, don't just read the summary. Perplexity is good but not immune to a confident blend, and the linked source is where you verify the date or the scope yourself. The tool finds the door; you walk through it.

Keep a short list of the facts you checked and the sources, even if they don't all make the final piece. When a reader challenges a number, you answer in ten seconds instead of red-faced.
