Embed live data in a Tome deck
A deck with a static screenshot of a dashboard is stale the week you ship it. Embed the live source instead.
Tome supports live embeds, which means a chart or table in your deck can reflect current data instead of a frozen image. For reporting decks, that's the difference between useful and decorative.
Embed the source view, not a screenshot. A linked dashboard updates on its own; a picture needs you to re-export every time the numbers move.
Label what the viewer is seeing and when it refreshes. A live number with no context reads as magic or mistake, and people stop trusting the deck.
Test the embed in present mode, not just edit mode. Some connections render differently when shared, and a broken tile undermines the whole report.
Use this for weekly metrics and status updates where freshness is the point. Static decks are fine for one-time pitches; live ones are for recurring truth.
