Bing AI vs ChatGPT vs Gemini: I Ran the Same Prompts Through All Three

I ran the same ten prompts through Bing AI, ChatGPT, and Gemini and stopped trusting the marketing. They wear the same 'AI chatbot' label, but they solve three different problems, and the one you want depends on whether you need the web, the writing, or the file in front of you.

Bing AI is the one to open when the question is 'what's true right now.' It's free, wired straight into search, and it cites its sources inline instead of guessing. The cost is personality: answers feel blander and safer than ChatGPT's, and it drops the thread faster than you'd like once you go past a couple of follow-ups.

ChatGPT is the all-day workhorse. It handles almost any writing or coding prompt you throw at it and has the biggest app and plugin ecosystem by far. The free tier now caps you on model quality and speed, and it will confidently invent a fact if you don't check, so I treat its output as a first draft, not gospel.

Gemini is the one for the messy file. It pulls live web results into its answers and handles images and PDFs inside one chat, which the other two still make you work for. The annoyance is that long answers wander more than Claude's, and the good settings are buried in a UI that assumes you'll enjoy hunting for them.

My honest split: Bing for sourced quick facts, ChatGPT for the writing and coding you do all day, Gemini when the task is a PDF or an image. Don't pay for all three. Pick the one whose strength is the job you actually have, and keep the other two a free tab away.
