The Offline Meeting App That Actually Respects My Laptop
Google's Edge Foresight runs the whole meeting assistant on-device. For once, 'private' isn't a setting I have to remember to turn on.
Google's AI Edge Foresight is a Mac app that records, transcribes, and answers questions about meetings using an on-device Gemma 4 model, with no cloud round-trip. For a meeting assistant, that architectural choice beats a smarter cloud one, because the audio never leaves the machine.
I've been burned by tools that promised privacy and meant 'we encrypt it after we read it.' This one doesn't have the option to phone home, which removes the trust tax. The tradeoff is it only runs where the model fits, but for notes that's fine.
It also works offline, which is the other quiet win. The cloud meeting assistants all assume connectivity; the one that runs locally keeps working in a basement with bad signal, i.e., most real conference rooms.
I don't need every AI to be on-device. I need the ones handling my private conversations to be, by default, not elsewhere. This app got that order right.
