The Resume Tool That Lied to Me About ATS
I paid for an ATS score. It told me I was safe. A recruiter told me I wasn't. Here's the gap.
Kickresume's ATS checker gave my resume a 92. I felt great. Then a recruiter said it was getting filtered because the parser choked on my two-column header.
The score measured how well their own tool liked the file, not how a real corporate parser would read it. Those are different machines, and the paid number only knows one of them.
I fixed it the dumb way: single column, standard section names, no fancy fonts. Re-uploaded. The paid score barely moved. The recruiter's parser stopped choking.
Treat any vendor's self-score as marketing. Test against the real gate, or ask a human who sees the rejects.
