I've been burned by the marketing before, so I test these with low trust. I came to Replit because builds a running app from a sentence and hosts it. That part delivered.
The catch is, Descript lets you cut audio by deleting words in the transcript. warned me my mic was 'breathy'
Neither is clean. Replit the agent loops on the same bug if you don't steer. Descript overdub drifts when the sentence is longer than ten words. You feel both within a day.
My call: if your work is 'prototypes you can show the same day', Replit wins and I'd stop looking. Descript fits 'podcasters and video editors who hate the timeline' better, and I'd hand it the repetitive jobs. I use both, but Replit gets the serious sessions.
I'm keeping it, but not for the reason they sell.
