Neither is clean. Perplexity the 'pro' models wander off topic on a follow-up. Pictory picks the dullest 30 seconds as the hook. You feel both within a day.
My call: Pictory for 'recycling long video into clips' -- it's the one I trust there. Perplexity takes 'research questions with citations', where its quirk matters less. Plenty of people flip this; I didn't, because the failure mode of Perplexity costs me more.
Would I pay again? For this one case, yes.
