I'm Cancelling AI Subscriptions Until They Earn It

I was paying for six AI tools and using two. The others were aspirational, bought on a demo, forgotten by Friday.

I was paying for six AI tools and using two. The others were aspirational, bought on a demo, forgotten by Friday. The stack was costing more than it returned.

I cut to the two I touch daily and put the rest on a 30-day challenge: only resubscribe if I miss them. Most I didn't. The FOMO was cheaper than the fees.

The test exposed which tools were habits versus which were crutches. A crutch you use without thinking is worth it; a tool you forgot you owned isn't.

Now I add deliberately. A new tool earns a slot by replacing something, not by being interesting. The bar is 'what does this remove,' not 'what can it do.'

If your subscriptions outnumber your daily tools, you're paying for potential, not use. Cancel the potential and watch how little you miss.
