Cleaning Cross-Talk Out of a Recording in Descript

Split by speaker and delete the stray words from the quieter voice in the transcript, not the waveform.

Two people talking over each other wreck a transcript and a listen. In Descript I split the track by speaker and delete the overlapping words from the quieter voice, which reads clean after.

The trick is to fix it in the transcript, not the waveform. Deleting the stray words by editing the text removes them from the audio, and I can hear the result immediately instead of scrubbing.

I then run the filler-word pass, because cross-talk fixes usually leave new 'ums' where I edited. One pass on each saves the redo later.

It's not perfect; dense overlap still needs a re-record of the line. But for the usual 'sorry, go ahead' overlaps, editing the script is faster than any noise tool.
