The FTC Probe Means One Boring Thing: Keep the Agent's Logs
Regulation of AI agents will land on audit trails. Build them now and you're ahead.
The FTC's industrywide look at AI agent risk is active and covers the big labs. States like Connecticut are adding disclosure rules for generative subscriptions. The direction is clear: agents that act will need to prove what they did.
That sounds like paperwork, but it's just good ops. If your agent can send mail or place an order, you need a log of the step, the approval, and the result. The investigation just made 'we should' into 'we must.'
The shops that already keep an approval step and a readable trail will shrug at the new rules. The ones that shipped autonomy with no ceiling will scramble.
Compliance here is just competent engineering. Do it for yourself, and the regulators become a non-event.
