I Deleted My AI Meeting App and Kept the Notes
The transcription was great. The subscription wasn't. I exported a year of notes and walked away, and didn't miss the app at all.
I canceled my AI meeting app after a year and exported every transcript and summary. The export took ten minutes; the realization that I'd never reopened the app except to record took longer.
What I actually valued wasn't the live transcription, it was the searchable history. Once I had the notes as plain files, the app was a recorder I used weekly and a bill I paid monthly. The notes did the job; the software was overhead.
I kept a simpler setup: record on my phone, drop the audio into a folder, and only transcribe the meetings I know I'll need to quote. Most weeks that's two, not ten, and the cost dropped to near zero.
The lesson wasn't 'AI meeting tools are bad.' It was that I'd been paying for capture I rarely used. The notes were the asset; the app was the subscription. Owning the notes let me drop the subscription.
