My Week With GPT-6's Intelligent UI
I lived in the new interactive ChatGPT for seven days. The good was real, the lazy was worse, and the calculator trick got old fast.
I spent a week using only GPT-6's interactive UI for my daily work. The standout was explaining things to non-technical friends: a tappable comparison or a tiny form beat a paragraph every time, and they actually engaged with the answer instead of skimming.
The lazy trap was real. Because the model could build the widget, I stopped double-checking the underlying math. Twice I almost shipped a number from an in-chat calculator without verifying the formula it chose. The interface made the output feel authoritative.
The novelty wore off faster than I expected. By day five the calculator and the charts were just furniture, and I wanted the plain answer back for the tasks where they added nothing.
Net: a genuine step forward for teaching and exploration, a mild hazard for trust, and not a replacement for text. I'll keep it for the explainer moments and switch it off for the work that needs scrutiny.
